Sonia brings more than 25 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration. Driven by a passion for accuracy, compliance, and supporting employees through well-run systems, her career began when an HR Director recognized her strong work ethic and customer service strengths, recruiting her into payroll and benefits. This opportunity sparked a lifelong commitment to operational excellence.

Sonia has extensive experience across U.S. multi-state and Canadian multi-province payroll and benefits operations, working in corporate, distribution, manufacturing, and union environments. Her expertise includes full-cycle payroll and benefits administration, HRIS implementations, vendor management, and compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, CRA, and FMLA. She has led payroll and benefits due diligence and integrations through mergers and acquisitions, managed vendor transitions that improved both cost efficiency and employee satisfaction, and guided organizations from manual processes to fully automated systems.

She is known for building strong relationships, delivering exceptional service, and creating clear SOPs and workflows that bring consistency and confidence to complex payroll and benefits functions. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Sonia supports diverse teams and clients with care and clarity. She has invested heavily in professional development through organizations such as SHRM, PayrollOrg, and the Canadian Payroll Association, and she currently volunteers with the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program while working toward her IRS Enrolled Agent credentials.

A lifelong Chicagoan, Sonia enjoys gardening, baking, karaoke, and road trips with family—often planning travels around Cubs and Rangers games.
